Our Commitment to Rice
Special rice

Delicious rice from our home, Okayama
We use ‘Kinumusume‘ rice, which is specially grown for our shop by contract farmers in Okayama Prefecture. In Japanese, ‘Kinumusume‘ means a daughter whose skin is white like silk.
As its name suggests, which includes the character for “silk” (kinu), it is a white and beautiful rice. It is characterized by a strong stickiness (viscosity) and is a representative rice variety of Okayama Prefecture.
Since the 2016 harvest, it has received the highest rank, Special A, in taste evaluation for nine consecutive years.

The refined and refreshing sweetness of ‘Kinumusume‘ does not interfere with the flavors and aromas of our signature Tako-meshi (octopus rice), Warayaki (straw-grilled dishes), and seafood; instead, it enhances them.
Since its delicious taste is maintained even when cooled, it is also ideal for bento boxes and onigiri (rice balls). It pairs perfectly with the Unaju (grilled eel over rice) we sell every year on the Day of the Ox (Doyo no Ushi no Hi), where the rice gently embraces the fragrant grilled eel!

We also offer Ochazuke (rice with tea poured over it) to conclude your meal.
Why not savor the ‘Kinumusume‘ rice, carefully grown by our farmers, one last time as a wonderful memory of your trip?
When you visit the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter, please be sure to stop by our shop. We look forward to welcoming you with Setouchi ingredients and local Okayama rice.
